Jarvis’ Bio
I hail from Virginia’s beautiful Eastern Shore — Accomack County, to be exact. I am a 1979 graduate of Onancock High School. In 1983, I graduated from Virginia Tech with a degree in Urban Studies. My vocation as a Minister began in 1986 when I was licensed by the Peace Missionary Baptist Church, Durham, North Carolina. In 1988 I was ordained by the Holy Trinity Baptist Church, Pungoteague, Virginia and graduated from Divinity School at Duke University. After serving several years as an Army Chaplain, I was installed as Pastor at the Zion Hill Baptist Church, Spotsylvania, Virginia. In the Fredericksburg area I have been involved with many community and business activities, including service in the Community Programs Office at Mary Washington Hospital/MediCorp Health System, and a current member of the Fredericksburg City School Board. I’m also the owner of a small business. On September 25, 2005, with me serving as Planter/Pastor, Real Life Community Church was launched. With God’s help, and the involvement of many people, RLCC continues to meet its mission of “helping real people experience real life together and find real hope in Jesus”. I have been happily married since 1985 to the very lovely Monica Matthews Bailey. I have 3 wonderful children – Omari, Matthew and Skyler, my niece. God has graciously allowed me to do and see many things, and I give Him all thanks and praises – may He continue to bless and keep us.
